ADMS is a Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) project that aims to have an operational product on the market, feeding into ALTEA’s global presence and commercial channels, within 3 years from the start of this project. The ADMS will support Europe’s 2,400 Distribution System Operators (DSOs) in the active management of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), enabling 25% more RES on existing distribution networks by improving network stability by 20% while safeguarding regulatory compliance.
The ambitious ADMS solution is built on beyond state-of-the-art Distribution Sensor Network (DSO) products and ground-breaking Advanced Distribution Automation (ADA) data analytic/modelling technology that models and predicts Low Voltage (LV) (< 440V ac) and Medium Voltage (MV) (< 30kV ac) power distribution network behaviour and stability for the entire network with only a few DSO nodes deployed on the network, helping DSOs achieve their 2020 carbon reduction targets.
ADMS is seamlessly integrating (a) MAC’s mass deployable, low-cost network monitoring solutions (patented Flexible Magnetic sensors, micro Phasor Measurement Units (mPMU) and LV Network monitoring), and (b) Gridhound’s innovative patented data-driven Artificial-Neural-Networks-based Advanced Distribution Automation (ADA) monitoring system. These are being productised by RWTH to meet the IEC61850 substation automation standard and mPMU enhanced with the patented TFT-WLS algorithm to meet the IEEE C37.118-1 standard.
ADMS is productising an operational system that will impact and disruptively change the way DSOs manage and control their networks. The system will support the DSO’s existing grid management systems and offer an affordable roll-out option, where accurate predictions and live monitoring of the grid status can be performed across the entire network with only a small number of measurements nodes deployed, and does not require intensive monitoring of the entire network.
